Pictures in KB item when using cloud

Hi,

We're using the cloud version of SysAid - how do I then insert a local stored picture in a KB item?
Or is it only possible to insert internet pictures when using cloud?

As far as I've been able to determine, it's only possible to link to photos stored on the Internet. Or, at least, to pictures with a valid URL - you could always store them locally on a web server, and reference them by URL.

I am not a cloud user but I have been able to just copy/paste the image directly into an FAQ. No link or upload required.

Hello kefkio,

if you verse least the faq post as an email, the recipient can see the pictures?

I don't understand your question.
Do you mean can I send the FAQ via email using the "Share this Article" link in the FAQ and the received email has the copy/pasted (unhosted) image in the email?

Yes.
I can see the image in the received email.

I can not see images in the received e-mail!
I can only see a placeholder.

where the images are stored in SysAid?

I have an in-house installation of SysAid

It is stored in the faq table in the answer field.

Dear Kevgio,
How did you get the copy/paste working in the KB article?
What version of SysAid are you using? what browser?? I can't make that work. It doesn't allow me to save the article if there's a paste image.

It is working for me in both 9.1 and 14.1 Enterprise on premise version.

I can do this in Firefox. I have not tested using another browser.
I have to Ctrl-V the image. I can not use the paste from contextual menu you get when you right-click the text box.

I am a cloud subscriber and it's not realistic for me to store images in other locations. Using the above snippet I tested that I could manually add Base64 encoded data using the Insert/Edit Image button. My image is now functionally embedded.

This is because of https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2397 which

allows inclusion of small data items as "immediate" data, as if it had been included externally.

By design this was only meant for small images. I cannot speak for the various potential limitations of using this method. The RFC linked above goes into more detail.

To convert your image to base64 you can either use a website to do it. I can't comfortably link to one but you can easily find them from a search for something like "Convert image to base64". Ones I tried also handled the information between the data and the start of the encoding

You can also use a scripting language i.e. PowerShell

When using something like PowerShell you will still have to prepend the "data:image/png;base64," or other appropriate mediatype for your image
