I am looking at the ITSM Performance Dashboard in BI Analytics and see the Category filter.  Is there a way to filter by sub-category in BI Analytics?

Hi there,

Here is the response we thought might assist you:

## Filtering by Sub-Category in BI Analytics

Currently, BI Analytics in SysAid provides a **Category filter** by default in dashboards like the ITSM Performance Dashboard. However, filtering by **sub-category** is not directly available as a built-in option in the standard BI Analytics setup. Here are some steps and workarounds you can consider:

---

### 1. **Check for Sub-Category Options in Filters**
- Open the **ITSM Performance Dashboard** in BI Analytics.
- Look for the filter bar at the top of the dashboard.
- Click on the **Category filter** to see if sub-categories are nested or available as part of the filter options.
- If sub-categories are not listed, proceed to the next steps.

---

### 2. **Use Advanced BI Analytics (if available)**
- If your organization has an **Advanced BI license**, you can create custom dashboards or sheets that include sub-category filters.
- Contact your SysAid account manager or administrator to confirm if Advanced BI is enabled for your account.
- With Advanced BI, you can customize the data fields and add sub-category filters to your reports.

---

### 3. **Workaround: Use Custom Filters**
- If sub-categories are not directly available in the filter bar, you can create a **custom filter**:
1. Click on the **funnel icon** or filter options in the dashboard.
2. Manually type the sub-category name or use keywords to filter the data.
3. Save the filter for future use.

---

### 4. **Request Feature Enhancement**
- If filtering by sub-category is critical for your reporting needs, you can request this feature to be added in future updates.
- Submit a feature request through your SysAid account manager or support team.

---

### 5. **Alternative: Export Data**
- If none of the above options work, you can export the data from BI Analytics and use external tools (e.g., Excel or Power BI) to filter and analyze by sub-category.

---

If you need further assistance or encounter any issues while applying these steps, feel free to reach out!

Hi Colin,

At the moment, filtering by sub-category is not supported, but we have an open Feature Request to help address this (SYSAID-1956).

Let me know if you have any questions!

I got to digging and by choosing the Selection Tool (upper-right)>checking Show field for App dimensions, then searching for sub allowed me to select sub_category.
